A study of clinical profile of patients with bile stone at tertiary health care centre

Abstract
Background: Diseases of the gallbladder are common and costly. Gallstone disease is a chronic recurrent hepatobiliary disease, the basis for which is the impaired metabolism of cholesterol, bilirubin and bile acids, which is characterized by the formation of gallstones in the hepatic bile duct, common bile duct, or gallbladder. Aims and Objectives: To Study clinical profile of patients with bile stone at tertiary health care centre. Methodology: This was a cross-sectional study in the patients of Gall bladder disease in the department of Surgery of a tertiary health care center during the year January 2017 to January 2018 so during one-year period there were 112 patients after written explained consent were included into our study. Result: The majority of the patients were Female i.e. 59.82 %, followed by Male- 40.18 %. The most common clinical features were Belching were in 95%, Nausea in 83%, Heartburn in 81%, Vomiting in 75%, Bloated abdomen in 72%, Fatty or fried foods not tolerance in 68%, Pain in epigastric region in 53%, Pain in right shoulder in 42%, Back pain in 40%. The most common risk factors found were Age >40 were 72.32%, Obese (BMI > 30) were 64.29%, Female sex were 55.36%, Family history in 42.86%, H/o Diabetes in 35.71%, H/o Liver disease in 33.93%, Non- Veg diet in 31.25%, Diet low in fiber in 25.00%. Conclusion: It can be concluded from our study that the most common clinical features were Belching, Nausea, Heartburn, Vomiting, Bloated abdomen. The most common risk factors found were Age >40, Obese (BMI > 30), Female sex, Family history, H/o Diabetes, H/o Liver disease, Non- Veg diet, Diet low in fiber.
