Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Surgery - Year 2017, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Background: The abdomen has been referred to as Pandora’s magic box. Very often an accurate diagnosis cannot be made without surgery and many wonders are revealed on opening the abdomen. So it is often the last court of appeal in investigating abdominal cases. Preoperative detailed history and thorough physical examination was done for all acute abdominal emergencies, to arrive at preoperative diagnosis. Results: Out of 9 cases intestinal obstruction, the commonest cause was obstructed right inguinal hernia 3(34%). Conclusion: The leading cause of acute abdomen was acute appendicitis constituting 42%.
