ABOUT THE STRESSED-DEFORMED STATE OF SIDE ROCKS IN COMPLEX MINING-GEOLOGICAL CONDITIONS

Abstract

Purpose. To study stability of the coal seam roof rocks which rely on a wide supple support or backing array when external forces affect them. The nature and location of the external force depends on the nature of their stress-strain state and the mine workings state. Methodology. A complex method using the basic provisions of the theory of elasticity, depending on the physical and mechanical properties, dimensions and shape of the girder beam as the main bearing element of underground structures has been used. Results. The destruction of the developed coal seam roof, as the main load-carrying element of the coal-bearing massif, in complex mining and geological conditions, ultimately results from the bending of the rock layers when the maximum rock basset values have been reached. Originality. As a result of applying a bookmark of the worked out space and the resulting compressive forces over the bottom hole space, a stable arch forms above the mine workings, and behind it a smooth deflection of the stratified rock strata is ensured. When the length of the beam is 5–10 times greater than the thickness of the roof stratified rocks, when calculating the stress-strain state of the side rocks to predict the stability of mine workings, shear forces can be neglected. Practical value. Development of measures aimed at increasing the stability of mine workings in the development of coal seams in difficult mining and geological conditions has been carried out. Сonclusions. In order to prevent sudden collapses of lateral rocks in the development of steep coal seams, one should be guided by the use of a universal method for controlling rock pressure and protecting mine workings has been proved.
