Abu’l-Khattab al-Asadi and Sect of Khattabiyya

Abstract

Abu’l-Khattab al-Asadi is fanatical fans of Jafar as-Sadiq who is sixth imam of İmamiyye Şia. Because of attributing divinity, Jafar as-Sadiq and all of the imams who comes before the Jafar as-Sadiq are removed from society by İmam Jafar. Abu’l-Khattab who was attributed holiness by Nusayris and Central Asia Ismailis and sect of Khattabiyya’s the most feature about the History of Islamic Sects is being characterized as "gist Ismailism" in some sources. In this regard, Khattabiyya is presentation as the origin of the Ismailiyya sect. But this situation is clearly not demonstrated about whether in terms of this idea or other reasons. In our survey, Abu’l-Khattab’s life, his character, his doctrines and originality of this doctrines, relationship with Imam Jafar as-Sadiq and Cafer’s son Ismail, divisions in the sect after his dead, and relationship between fans of Abu’l-Khattab and sects of Ismailiyya during this divisions will be covered in detail.
