Acceptability of an Improvised Motorcycle Anti-Theft Security System with SMS and Call Notification

Abstract

This study focused on the development and evaluation of an Improvised Motorcycle Anti-Theft Security System with SMS and Call Notification to help owners protect their motorcycles and reduce the theft related incidents in the Philippines. The researcher used the descriptive method of research with the twenty (20) computer engineers, electronic communication engineers and mechanics, twenty (20) Information and Communication Technology teachers, and the twenty (20) riders who own and use motorcycles as respondents. Based on the findings, it was found out that the Improvised Motorcycle Anti-Theft Security System with SMS and Call Notification cost two thousand one hundred fifty-three (Php. 2,153.00) for the Anti-theft device and two thousand one hundred forty (Php. 2140.00) for the mock-up device. In addition, the respondents evaluated it in terms of configuration, functionality, safety, economy, and efficiency as Highly Acceptable (HA) with general weighted mean ratings of 4.23, 4.83 and 4.93 and showed significant differences in their evaluations. Comments and suggestions were provided by the respondents for further improvement of the developed and evaluated product.
