Air quality modelling as a tool used in selecting technological alternatives for developing a new abrasive facilit
Journal Title: Advances in Environmental Sciences - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2011, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
Production of abrasive compounds employs the use of various organic materials as adhesives or as conditioners. During the baking process, a significant amount of air pollutant substances, including various forms of organic compounds are emitted in the atmosphere. Selecting the most suitable technological process is a procedure that involves a cost benefit analysis as well as procedures forcomplying with BAT requirements (best available techniques). Assessing the resulting environment quality in the vicinity of a new facility is also important, IPPC Directive clearly specifies that a new facility must not induce changes of the quality of the environment. This is highly dependent on local meteorological and topographical conditions. The ISCST3 model was applied to assess the atmospheric dispersions associated with several potential technological designs, and compare their impacts on the environment.

Phytoremediation of oil contaminated soil by some arid legume tree species.
Petroleum contamination of soil is a serious problem throughout the world. Phytoremediation is a promising technology for the clean up of petroleum contaminated soil. In the present work the rhizosphere of Prosopis ciner...
Durability of critical infrastructure
The paper deals with those infrastructures by which world society, under the pressure of demographic explosion, self-survives. The main threatening comes not from terrorist attacks, but from the great natural catas...
Preliminary studies of the Mymaridae (Hym., Chalcidoidea) from Neamț county, Romania, species distribution, vascular flora/vegetation, an ecological approach
In this paper we present 14 species of the family Mymaridae which had been collected and identified from some areas of Neamț county, the species are: Anagrus atomus (Linnaeus 1767), Anagrus breviphragma (Soyka 1955), Lit...
Strategic elements for an evaluation of extreme events risk
Extreme events, especially those generated by climate change, have been scientifically approached for a better understanding of their causes as well as for finding efficient ways in which potential damages be diminished...
Development of biotic index based on rapid bioassessment approaches using benthic macroinvertebrates for Chi and Mun headwater streams, northeast Thailand.
The objective of present study is to select high performance metrics for developing a multimetrics biotic index to assess headwater stream conditions of the Chi and Mun basins in northeastern Thailand (Khorat Platau (Mek...
