Alternative approach to restoration of a porcelain-fused-to-metal bridge. A case report

Abstract
Porcelain-fused-to-metal fixed prosthetic restorations remain a frequent form of rehabilitation of the masticatory system. Despite constant improvement of the quality of porcelain bonding to metal, porcelain chipping is the leading cause of replacements. Repair options depend on the severity of the damage. One approach involves utilizing composite restoration systems; in the presented case, however, it failed to provide satisfactory and long-lasting effects. This study presents an alternative method of cementing a porcelain-fused-to-metal overlay where the bridge was damaged. This solution allowed for satisfactory functioning and aesthetics, eliminating the necessity to remove the previous extensive fixed restoration.
