An Artist as a Character in the novel “The Master of Petersburg” by J.M. Coetzee

Abstract
The specificity of main character in the novel “The Master of Petersburg” by the South-African writer J.M. Coetzee is investigated in this article. The main principles of construction of the main character’s image, which determine the typologization of the novel (according to M.M. Bakhtin), are examined.
