Journal Title: LOKUM Sanat ve Tasarım Dergisi - Year 2023, Vol 1, Issue 2

Abstract

In the process of violin education, considering the violin educators' approach to education, they use many works, etudes, and practices. Etudes and exercises make a great contribution to the student's technical and musical development. In this process, the works preferred by violin educators are not only contribute to the technical and musical development of the students but they also ensure that the student is motivated during the study process. For this reason, the works of contemporary Turkish composers, who have the characteristic and musical characteristics of our culture, are also included in the violin education of their country. However, most of the works of Contemporary Turkish composers are not preferred in initial violin education because they are difficult in terms of level. Based on this problem situation, the educational analysis of Kara Karayev's violin piece called "Little Waltz", one of the important composers of Azerbaijan, which we define as a brother country and known for its closeness to Turkish music culture, constitutes the purpose of the research. In line with this purpose, the right-hand and left-hand technical achievements of Kara Karayev's "Little Waltz" work were determined. This research is a scientific research in which qualitative data collection techniques are used. This research aimed to reveal an existing situation and a case study was preferred as a model. The universe and sample of this research consist of Kara Karayev's "Little Waltz". The data of the research were analyzed. As a result of the left-hand technical analysis of the work, it is seen that the two, three, fourth and fifth positions are included at different times in order to both improve the musical richness and make finger pressure more comfortable. As a result of the right-hand technical analysis, it is seen that Detache and Legato bow techniques are intensely used in the work. It is seen that the Portato bow technique is also included in order to enrich the use of bow and to make the effect of waltz rhythm felt in the work in a relative way.
