An Investigation of the Relationship between FamilyCommunication Patterns and Marital Adjustment

Abstract
Using a descriptive correlational method, the present paper aims to investigate the intermediary role of identity aspects in the relationship between family communication pattern and marital adjustment. Marital adjustment refers to the state in which there exists a general feeling of happiness and satisfaction from marriage between spouses. Employing cluster sampling, the respondents were chosen among the married M.A. students of Marvdasht Islamic Azad University who had entered university in 2012 and 2013. They were requested to complete a questionnaire. The data were analyzed through Pearson’s correlation coefficient and the independent t-test. The analysis of Pearson’s correlation coefficient indicated that there is a meaningful direct relationship between marital adjustment and conversation orientation but no meaningful relationship was observed between marital adjustment and conformity orientation.
