ANALYSIS OF FOREIGN TRADE TRENDS WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO THE TRADE OF HUNGARY AND ITS NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES

Abstract
Purpose. Trade has always been the engine of growth. With increased trade openness, its role in world economy is are important than ever. After reviewing the development of trade and commercial theories, and analysing trends in ernational trade we set out to investigate the foreign trade of Hungary with the neighbouring countries. Methodology. During the research, we focused mainly on Hungary's foreign trade, with special regard to the alysis of trade with neighbouring countries. The following countries were analysed: Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, rbia, Romania, Ukraine, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic (the last two were included in the sample because the membership of the Visegrad countries). Using secondary data, we analysed the volume of trade, share of export and import volume, changes in export mposition, changes in export and import complexity between 1993 and 2016. Based on our findings, we concluded t Hungarian foreign trade with the neighbouring countries follows the global trends in trade. Practical value. All things considered, it can be stated that trade practices between Hungary and its neighbouring untries follow international trends, which will remain unchanged in the coming years according to the latest forecasts.
