ANALYSIS OF THE POTENTIAL USAGE OF SELECTED MAGNETIC FLUIDS IN THRUST SLIDE BEARINGS
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2016, Vol 269, Issue 5
Abstract
Magnetic fluids are substances whose rheological properties can be actively influenced by treatment with a magnetic field. Two main types of magnetic fluids can be distinguished: ferromagnetic fluids, and magnetorheological fluids. Ferrofluids are mostly used in sealing engineering, whereas magnetorheological fluids are usually applied in controlled systems for the dissipation of mechanical energy, like brakes and dampers. The ability to control the rheological properties of magnetic fluids opens new horizons for development in machine design, among others in the areas of bearing engineering. The paper presents a comparative analysis of the rheological characteristics of selected magnetic fluids with a focus on the possible areas of the application of these substances in bearing engineering.

ANALYSIS OF TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF TWO-COMPONENT, CERAMIC FILLED EPOXY LAYERS UNDER HYDRO-ABRASIVE WEAR CONDITIONS
The paper presents the analysis of the abrasive wear of the selected mate-rials used for the regeneration of the main elements of a centrifugal pump. The wear abrasive study was conducted using the ball-cratering method...
TESTING OF AN EFFECT OF AUTOMOTIVE AND INDUSTRIAL GEAR OILS ON GEAR MICROPITTING
The aim of the work was to assess the influence of the properties of manual transmission fluids (also called automotive gear oils) on the resistance to micropitting of gears. The FZG GT-C/8,3/90 micropitting test method...
INFLUENCE OF SUB-MICROMETRIC SOLID LUBRICANT PARTICLES IN THE SURFACE LAYER OF PARTS OPERATING AT HIGH TEMPERATURES ON THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
In the case of high temperatures, traditional lubricating agents lose their properties. An important element is the development of new means of lubrication applicable to industry. The lubrication of systems working at sp...
INVESTIGATION OF THE CHEMICAL CONVERSIONS OF SYNTHETIC LUBRICANT CONTAINING ECOLOGICAL ANTIWEAR ADDITIVE PROCEEDING UNDER FRICTION CONDITIONS
Chemical conversions of PAO – and ester-based synthetic lubricants containing ecological antiwear additives of vegetable origin under different friction conditions were investigated. Rubbing tests were performed using a...
