ANALYSIS OF THE SUITABILITY OF SELECTED RESEARCH METHODS TO ASSESS THE COHESION OF A DESIGNED GREASE AND ITS ADHESIVE INTERACTIONS WITH THE STEEL SURFACE

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 239, Issue 5

Abstract

The aim of this study was the selection of research methods and the evaluation of the suitability of the results of the investigation of interactions between a designed lubricant and the working surfaces of tribosystem steel elements. The research indicated that measuring tear forces, penetration and scuffing load could be used to evaluate these interactions, because there is a linear relationship between these parameters. The obtained results show that the research method can be used for comparative evaluation of grease adhesion to the surface.
