Journal Title: International Journal of Ayurveda & Alternative Medicine - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
Kloma is an organ described in Ayurvedic Samhitas which is responsible for thirst regulation but the references are scattered. From ancient time till date scholars learn from different school of thoughts so they have differences of opinion about this organ. In 20 century though many experts tried to decide organ Kloma anatomically but still they can’t come to final conclusion. A thorough review was done by analyzing various texts like Samhitas, Madhava Nidana, sharangadhara with their commentaries & modern literature. After reviewing the ancient, current ayurvedic & modern literature, it can be concluded that Kloma can be compared with gall bladder though physiologically there is no role of Gall bladder in thirst regulation.
