ANTIOXIDANT POTENTIAL CHANGES IN TENNIS SPORTSMEN ORGANISMS AFTER WINGATE TEST

Journal Title: Medycyna Sportowa - Year 2006, Vol 22, Issue 4

Abstract

Background. Intensive physical activity may lead to free radicals formation. The aim of these study was to assess the influence of anaerobic activity on antioxidant potential of organisms of tennis sportsmen. Material and methods. Nine professional tennis men, in the age of 19,4±1,7 years tested on bicycle ergometer during 30 seconds (Wingate test). Correct load estimated on body mass was calculated for each person. Before the test and 20 minutes after it was finished vein's blood was taken. Spectrophotometrical methods were used to determine the total antioxidant status of blood plasma (FRAP) and total polyphenolic as well as allantoin concentration by HPLC method as marker of free radicals reactivity.Results. We found a statistic significant decrease of total serum antioxidant status (**p
