ARAB SPRING AND THE AUTUMN OF NATIONS IN THE CENTRAL EUROPE. IDEOLOGICAL SIMILARITIES AND STRUCTURAL DIFFERENCES

Abstract
Arabskie rewolucje, które rozpoczęły się w 2011 r. w Tunezji, przekształciły region Bliskiego Wschodu. Arabska Wiosna, jak nazwano te wydarzenia na fali początkowego entuzjazmu, były porównywane do upadku komunizmu Europie Środkowej. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest umieszczenie tych dwóch niezwykle istotnych wydarzeń w układzie porównawczym oraz zbadanie, do jakiego stopnia, jeśli w ogóle, Arabska Wiosna przypomina efekt domina, zapoczątkowany przez polską Solidarność. Struktura otoczenia międzynarodowego będzie stanowiła główny obiekt porównania. Szczątkowo, zostaną także zarysowane strategiczne konsekwencje Arabskiej Wiosny. The string of Arab revolutions, started in the 2011 in Tunisia, have reshaped the Middle East. Arab Spring, as it was called on the wave of initial enthusiasm, was compared to the fall of Communism in Central Europe. The aim of the present article is to put these both crucially important events in comparison, and examine, to what extent, if at all, Arab Spring resembles the domino effect, ignited by the Polish Solidarity movement. The structure of the international environment will constitute the main object of comparison. The strategic consequences will also be depicted, although in rudimentary manner.
