THIS IS NOT A PARADISE FOR IMMIGRANTS. THE POLISH AND SPANISH ATTITUDES TOWARDS IMMIGRANTS (A COMPARATIVE STUDY)

Abstract
There are a lot of similarities between Poland and Spain and one important dis-unity connected with the attitudes towards immigrants. The hypothesis of this article is that the information policy of the authorities is the main factor shaping the social atti-tudes in both countries but with different results. The main questions are: when did Poland change its attitude? Why does Spain support the presence of immigrants, even after the terrorist attack in Barcelona? Pomiędzy Polską i Hiszpanią istnieje wiele podobieństw i jedna kwestia istotnie różnicująca tj. społeczne postawy wobec imigrantów. Hipotezą podjętych rozważań jest, że w obydwu państwach polityka informacyjna rządzących stanowi główny czyn-nik kształtujący postawy społeczne, ale z innym skutkiem. Główne pytania badawcze, które postawiono to: Dlaczego w Polsce nastąpiła zmiana postaw wobec uchodźców? Dlaczego Hiszpanie nadal popierają obecność imigrantów w swoim państwie, nawet po zamachu terrorystycznym w Barcelonie?
