ASPECTS OF LANGUAGE REFLECTION OF THE CONCEPT “ORDNUNG” (“ORDER”) IN THE WORKS OF THOMAS MANN

Abstract
The article deals with the characteristics of lexical-semantic reflection of the concept Ordnung (order) in the works of Thomas Mann. There are identified specific aspects of the perception of this concept of the characters of the works within which are established aspects of its lexical reflection. National mentality is understood as a set of variant forms of world perception, which are inherent for certain groups of people, united in social and historical communities. National mentality exists at the level of individual and collective consciousness; this determines the psychological features of the people, which form the basis of customs and morals and ways to form their behavior in relation to external reality. This is reflected in the typical psychological reactions to certain events or situations, in the system of norms and principles of existence. The language of the novels by Thomas Mann is a source of information about the mentality of the German people, which is based on the realization that a complete description of linguistic units at different levels as a means of manifestation of national character traits of the Germans is not possible without departing from the scope of linguistics. In the paper the stylistic means, which are explicit or implicit markers of the expression of characters` traits in the novels by Thomas Mann, are found. On the material of works of the writer the mental and psychological traits of dramatis personae of the novels as the representatives of the corresponding historical period and socio-cultural sphere are studied. Typical features of the representatives of the Buddenbrooks family (the novel «Buddenbrooks») are an adequate evaluating of reality, practicality, hard work, self-respect, common sense and a desire to order internal and external world. Typical features of the characters of the novel «The Magic Mountain» («Der Zauberberg») are practicality, discipline, love for order, punctuality, precision, meticulousness.
