Journal Title: Indian Journal of Research in Pharmacy and Biotechnology - Year 2015, Vol 3, Issue 3

Abstract

People with diabetes often feel challenged by their disease and its day-to-day management demands. The most widely used diabetes-specific quality of life measure is the Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL) measure developed for use in the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT). Results of research on the association between treatment regimen and quality of life in people with diabetes are mixed, with some indication that increasing treatment intensity in patients with Type 2 diabetes from diet and exercise alone, to oral medications, to insulin, is associated with worsening quality of life. The main objective of this study was to assess the role of different parameters such as gender, rout of administration, frequency of medication and treatment regimen in the quality of life of the diabetic patients. The study was performed over 102 diabetic patients diagnosed with in patient wards of B.R.Ambedkar Medical Hospital of Bangalore, India. The study was conducted for a period of 4 months.
