Carcinoma cuniculatum of the larynx – case report

Abstract
Laryngeal cancer is the most common neoplasm of the head and neck region. Squamous cell cancer (SCC) accounts for more than 95% of all cases of laryngeal cancer. Carcinoma cuniculatum is a well-differentiated, low-grade form of SCC, and it is extremely rare in the head and neck region. To our knowledge, only two cases of carcinoma cuniculatum of the larynx have been described in the literature so far. We describe the case of 76-years old man with ca cuniculatum of the larynx, in whom a total laryngectomy was performed. Histopathology of this rare neoplasm is also briefly discussed.
