Code Switching Phenomenon of Bilingualism in Terms of Matrix Language Framework Model

Abstract

This study aims to analyze morpho-syntactic features of code-switching phenomenon for bilingualism in terms of Matrix Language Framework Model by Myers-Scotton and 4M and Abstract Level Model in which Matrix Language Hypothesis is reconstructed by Myers-Sctton and Jake in 1997. Content Morphemes such as noun, adjective and verb stems and system morphemes are tried to evaluate in the sense of code-switching phenomenon in Matrix Language Hypothesis with regards to English and Turkish dominant learners of Italian. In this study, classic code-switching is investigated in the matter of embedded language framework and Matrix Language Hypothesis is presented in different levels of bilingual discourses.
