Combined Pathogenetic Therapy of Diabetic Distal Neuropathy

Abstract
The data on the efficacy and safety of combined pathogenetic therapy in the treatment of distal neuropathy in diabetic patients are presented. There has been demonstrated a positive clinical effect in the combined use of Actovegin, deproteinized hemoderivative of calf blood, and Neurobion, a combination of neurotropic B vitamins (Nycomed: a Takeda Company). The combination of antihypoxic, antioxidant effects of Actovegin in conjunction with the neurotropic action of Neurobion determine neuroprotective effect, has a positive impact on the metabolism of nerve tissue and reduces pain syndrome intensity in patients with diabetes mellitus.
