COMMUNICATION, IDENTIFICATION, CONSCIOUSNESS AS POSTULATES OF PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Personality development within the paradigm of person’s communication, identification and consciousness starting from his / her childhood to adolescence has been revealed in the article. All person’s life is accompanied by communication with other people. A communication model elaborated by M. Lisina has been represented; children’s communication forms starting from childhood to adolescence have been characterized. The development of junior schoolchildren’s self-consciousness has been analyzed; the identification peculiarities of adolescents (teen-agers) in the process of their socialization (individual and group) have been characterized. Individual identification presupposes adoption of an image (symbol) to follow alongside with its introduction into his / her inner world and its adoption as his / her personal values, norms, rules. Group identification is realized by surrounding oneself, one’s own “I”, by a certain group, adoption of the group’s goals, values, awareness of oneself as a group member. Consciousness, the manifestation of which is characterized by activeness, intentionality, the ability to reflect, self-observation, self-attitude, self-evaluation, plays a significant role in the process of identification. The correlation between consciousness and identification process depends on a character and type of communication in which especially active teen-agers are involved (communication is a leading activity of teenagers). If it passes spontaneously, uncontrollably, it may cause diverse youth groupings on non-spiritual, anti-moral basis (hippies, punks, era of rock-and-roll, beat-music, Satanists, metalheads, teddy boys, rockers and others). It lead to the formation of a new type of mass culture into which the youth would get involved as a protest against society, since it did not satisfy them. The style and behaviour of the designated groups who would organize mass demonstrations, use abstract slogans, demand a sexual revolution, etc. have been specified in the article. The abovementioned facts and youth’s appeals: violence, cruelty, hooliganism, racism, chauvinism are considered to be manifestation of those young people’s non-spiritual and immoral conduct. The main way to rescue those young people correlates with the spiritual fundamentals of Christian Pedagogy which calls for bringing up youth’s spirituality, faith in the God-man ‒ Jesus Christ, which facilitates awareness of the necessity to alter one’s behaviour (conduct), to look for other communication partners.
