CONSUMPTION OF ANTIOXIDANT VITAMINS IN DIETS AND INDICTORS TAS AND TBARS IN STUDENT OF PHYSICAL TRAINING ACADEMY WITH DIFFERENT LEVELS OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Journal Title: Medycyna Sportowa - Year 2006, Vol 22, Issue 3

Abstract

Background. The aim of this study was to find the dependence between consumption of antioxidant vitamin, level of physical activities and effective's antioxidant defense. Assuming that increase in the physical activities causes several increases in the amount of free radicals. We expect clearly difference between groups of different levels of physical activities.Material and methods. The study include first year student of physical training academy in the section of physical training. The test was carried out 85 chosen students: 45 women and 40 men under the age of 19-20 years. The students were divided into four groups as regard sex and level of physical activities. The size of physical activities was determined on the basis of weekly energy expenditures. Biochemical's test was carried out indicators for the status of antioxidatic in blood serum (TAS-Total Antioxidant Status, mmol/l), indicator for the status of prooxidatic in blood serum, measured with TBARS ration (Tiobarbituric Acid Reaction Substances, nmol/ml lub µmol/l), test of way of feeding with the method of 24 hours questioning.Results. Awerage value of indicator status for antioxidant in blood serum (TAS) in the group of tested woman with increased physical activities and the group with lower level activities evaluated 0,86 mmol/l. In the group of women with increased physical activities average value indicator status of prooxiodant in blood serum measured with TBARS value elevated 0,98±0,23 nmol/ml, the group of lower average value for indicator TAS was 0,94±0,1mmol/l, on the other hand in the group of lower activities 0,95±0,07mmol/l. In the group of men with increased physical activities average value indicator status of prooxiodant in blood serum measured with TBARS value elevated 0,81±0,08 nmol/ml, the group of lower activities was 0,89±0,18 nmol/ml. The amount of consumed vitamin A and C considerably extends the daily norm of consumption in women as well as in men, independent of the level of physical activities. The norm of consumed vitamin E is not realized only in the group of women with increased physical activities.Conclusions. 1. The levels of physical activities did not have any effect on average value indicators of TAS and TBARS in the tested groups. 2. No correlation test of indication from the level of physical activities was shown consumption of antioxidant TAS and TBARS in students of physical training academy with different level of physical activities.
