CONTEMPORARY APPROACHES TO DEFINITION AND CLASSIFICATION OF BULLYING IN SCHOOL TEENAGE COLLECTIVES

Abstract

The materials of research of the problem of school violence that received contemporary title «bullying» are presented in this article. The main purpose of scientific article is the characterization of contemporary approaches to definition and classification of bullying in school teenage collectives. The actuality of the topic is caused by the severity of the problem. This statement is confirmed by the big variety of researches in this sphere, various attempts to stop this type of violence and to make its impact less visible on the social environment in general and on the particular people in particular, which are being implemented through the world. This article makes general theoretical overview of the problem of bullying. It rises questions of expansion of school violence in foreign countries and in Ukraine. The statistical data is generalized about the expansion of bullying in foreign countries and in Ukraine. The analysis and systematization of theoretical approaches to understanding the phenomenon of bullying is done in the article. This is the most researched aspect of this topic in scientific literature. Generalized description of scientists, who made impact into the investigation of the bullying phenomena in different countries, is presented in the article. The authors of the article conclude about the lack of theoretical researches of the problem of bullying in school teenage collectives in Ukraine. In this scientific article, the author pays special attention to the analysis of scientific sources of literature, which present bullying as serious social-pedagogical problem of modern society. In addition, the necessity of research of important categories of this topic such as «violence», «school violence», «bullying» is indicated. The author identifies the most important components, which are part of the bullying phenomenon, such as aggressive behavior, which includes unwanted negative actions; continuous repetition of negative events in time; the imbalance of power and strength. The author of the article investigates types of bullying in school teenage environment as well as the impact of bullying on children. The author defines physical and psychological violence, sexual harassment as the sub-type of physical violence as the most typical manifestations of school bullying. The attention is paid to the definitions of such terms as «physical violence», «psychological violence», «sexual violence», which are defined by Ukrainian scholars. The attention is paid to the main physical and psychological ways of manifestation of bullying defined by the authors: kicking, holding by force, pushing, attack of victim or beating of victim, racketeering, calling by bad names, creating a tense atmosphere, molestation, methods of alienation, isolation of victim from groups of students, social exclusion, contempt, spreading rumors, ignoring, criticism, ridicule, and intimidation. The necessity of further research of the topic of the problem of bullying in school teenage collective is confirmed and substantiated.
