CURRENT STATE AND PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE

Abstract

Purpose. The aim of the article is to characterize the current state of agricultural insurance and to work out the main priorities of its improvement as prerequisites for sustainable development of the agrarian sector of the country’s economy. Methodology of research. In the basis of study there were laid such approaches as: systematic approach, the dialectical method of scientific knowledge and the fundamental conditions of agricultural insurance. For scientific solution of goals there were used general scientific and special methods of research: methods of scientific abstraction - to justify categorial-conceptual apparatus; abstract logical and dialectical (for theoretical generalizations and forming the research findings); monographic (to highlight the views of scientists on the problems investigated in paper); historical and logical (to determine problems and further development); methods of analysis, synthesis and generalization - to examine the main trends of the market development of agricultural insurance. Findings. It is established that agricultural insurance is considered the best way to minimize risk and stabilize the income of agricultural enterprises, which in its turn makes it possible to compensate the losses due to unforeseen events, ensures preservation of a certain level of income that can improve farmer’s creditworthiness. In the paper there were argued the main indicators of the insurance companies involved in agricultural insurance. There were proposed basic directions of further improvement of agricultural insurance that will ensure the sustainability of agricultural production and sustainable development of the agricultural sector of the state. Originality. There was grounded some features of agricultural insurance strategy that will provide reliable insurance protection to agricultural producers and will help minimize the damage caused by the presence of natural factors and provide stable development of agricultural production. Practical value. There were received the results of research on the current state of agricultural insurance and proposed the main priorities for further improvement of agricultural insurance that will ensure social and economic protection of farmers, enhance economic stability in general and promote efficient development of agriculture in modern conditions.
