“DER ERLKÖNIG” (“THE ERL-KING”, “THE ELF-KING”) BY JOHANN WOLFGANG VON GOETHE AND THE SCANDINAVIAN ORIGINAL (FIRST-HAND) OF THE BALLAD IN THE UKRAINIAN TRANSLATIONS: NEOCLASSICAL CONTINUITY (MAXIM RYL’S’KY – IHOR KACHUROVS’KY – NEW GENERATION)

Abstract
The interdependence of the ballad “The Elf-King” by J. W. Goethe and its first-hand which is the Danish ballad, translated by J. G. Herder, were investigated. The original and translations made by Maxim (Maksym) Ryl’s’ky and Ihor Kachurovs’ky are analyzed. Mythological base of the German and Scandinavian texts is researched. Comparative, textological, archetype, mythological, thesaurus, etymological methods of analysis are used. The work has theoretical and practical purposes.
