Determination of Range Parameters of Observation Devices on the Basis of Laboratory Measurements
Journal Title: Problemy Mechatroniki. Uzbrojenie, lotnictwo, inżynieria bezpieczeństwa - Year 2014, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
The paper presents two most reliable methods used to determine the range performance of observation devices – Johnson criteria and the TTP model. Johnson criteria is used in NATO standards to determine the probability of detection, recognition and identification of standard NATO targets. TTP model is the latest concept to estimate the range parameters of observation devices, developed and used mainly by US military laboratories. The paper presents simplified description of a method applied to determine the range parameters on the basis of laboratory measurements. It provides the list of parameters and measurement methods required to estimate the detection, recognition and identification ranges according to both Johnson criteria and TTP model. Sample results obtained for thermal cameras and short model analysis are also presented.

Development of Particle Imagine Velocimetry Algorithm
In current work the Particle Imagine Velocimetry method is being described. The aim of research was to improve the performance of PIV algorithm while working with poor quality input data. Alternative method of displaceme...
The Dynamics of Mechanical System: Shooter – Recoil Damper – Firearm
A mathematical model is presented, allowing computer simulations of the system shooter – recoil damper – firearm at an early stage of its motion, when no conscious reactions to input forces occur on the shooter's side. E...
Zastosowanie giroskopowego układu wykonawczego do naprowadzania pocisku rakietowego na cel
W pracy rozważono możliwość wykorzystania układu wykonawczego sterowania lotem pocisku, w postaci szybko obracającego się wirnika, zawieszonego przegubowo w korpusie pocisku. Wymuszone odchylania osi wirnika (giroskopu)...
Simulation of Projectile Motion around Muzzle
In the paper results of simulation of motion of a projectile and gases in the barrel and at the outlet of the barrel have been presented. Numerical calculations were performed in the ANSYS Fluent 12.1 for 30 mm caliber g...
Numerical Model of Striking the Percussion Cap in the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Test Device
Results obtained on the device described in [1] were interpreted by means of the numerical model. A conformity of the model and experimentally based profiles of delay time (400-100 s), firing pin immersing (360 m approx....
