Development of Tourism in Khmelnytsky Region

Abstract
Tourism fosters the democratization of society by raising people’s cultural level and improving their health, and it contributes to the social and economic development of regions and the country as a whole. In the Khmelnytsky region there are 33 recreational facilities with almost 4 thousand places. They include 9 sanatoria, 3 sanatorium-dispensaries, 10 recreation centres, 11 health camps for children, 35 hotels for 2 thousand places. In the region there are 120 wildlife sanctuaries, 158 nature monuments, 35 monuments of landscape architecture, 17 nature reserves, and also the National Nature Park “Podilsky Tovtry,” the largest one in Europe. The tourism development program in the Khmelnytsky region for 2013-2015 was developed in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine on Tourism, the Strategy of regional development of the Khmelnytsky region for 2011-2020, and the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of August 6, 2008, No.1088-p. approving the tourism development and resorts strategy.
