Journal Title: Науковий вісник Дрогобицького державного педагогічного університету імені Івана Франка. Серія: Філологічні науки (мовознавство) - Year 2016, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
The article is devoted to the questions of the deviation of gender and anaphoric functions of the pronouns in official legal texts. Great attention is paid to the actualization of gender factor. The given article demonstrates the dominance of male-gendered pronouns referring to all people in English legal texts. Masculine forms which in one context of legal language are supposed to be neutral and include women, may exclude women in another context if it serves male interests, so androcentrism is qualified as the leading principle of the “dual nouns – pronouns” interaction in this type of text.
