DIFFUSE PULMONARY INTERSTITIAL DISEASE. A CORRELATION CLINICAL-IMAGENOLOGICAL PATTERNS OF HRCT

Journal Title: Revista Cuarzo - Year 2013, Vol 19, Issue 2

Abstract

Although the chest radiograph allows us to suspect the presence of Diffuse lnterstitial Lung Disease (ILD), High Resolution Com puted Tomography (HRCT) is more sensitive and specific in the assessment of patients with this disease. This second part will cover the basic patterns that identify the various groups of ILD, based on HRCT, a circumstance which necessarily requires prior review of the basic concepts of the secondary pulmonary lobule. While it is true that in sorne cases such as UIP these patterns allow to reach a diagnosis in 65% of cases, regardless even of the histopathological study, a reliable diagnosis is reached only after a judicious clinical, radiological and pathological consensus.
