DIGITALIZATION OF THE WORLD FOOD MARKET

Abstract

In the article, the author conducted a study of modern results of the process of digitalization of the world market of food products. It is revealed that at present, the latest technologies are actively used at various stages in the product development chain (manufacturer, distribution network, and consumer). It is determined that the use of big data and in-depth analytics is the most promising directions of development of the process of digitalization on this market. The most dynamic processes of informatization and robotization can be observed in the distribution sector, where owners and managers of retail networks use them for solving various tasks, the main of which is the reduction of the cost of the order delivery conducting on-line orders. At present, the biggest obstacle to the comprehensive development of on-line food trade is the lack of effective logistics solutions and the high cost of delivery to the end user per unit of output. At the same time, the newest technologies will be able to create favourable conditions for cooperation between different elements of the value chain of food production – from the manufacturer to the ultimate consumer, with the aim of introducing such a system for the creation, distribution and consumption of food products on the world market that on the one hand could minimize unused waste on this market, thus reducing the negative impact on the environment, and on the other hand, would create opportunities for solving global problems of hunger and promote sustainable development.
