Abstract
The issue 3/2017 of „Pielęgniarstwo w Stanach Nagłych” (Nursing in Medical Emergencies) started a series of publications concerning dyspnoea, one of the most common medical emergencies. It was defined as „a subjective experience of the lack of air”, i.e. a symptom that may be caused by airway obstruction, described in this paper, which occurs in the course of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, anaphylaxis or laryngitis, or as a result of the presence of a foreign body.
