Zatrucie środkami psychoaktywnymi u dzieci

Abstract
Drug use is a complex, heterogeneous and dynamic phenomenon. Psychoactive substances have been known to mankind for a long time. Thousands of years ago, hallucinogenic substances, sedatives and stimulants were used rarely and rather in magical-religious context. Throughout the ages, the variety of psychoactive substances, their quantity, as well as methods and purpose of application have changed considerably. An extra group of the so-called ‘surrogate’ drugs has been identified among psychoactive substances, which is commonly called ‘legal highs’. Legal highs, defined as new psychoactive substances not covered by law, are not a mild version of drugs, but on the contrary, they often act more intensely and pose a threat to the health and life of adults, adolescents and children.
