East and West Paradigms of Christian Theodicy Explanation (the Formation of Mental Peculiarities of Understanding Christian Theodicy).

Abstract

The article deals with an attempt to explain the reasons of differences in Augustine’s and Pelagius’ interpretation of God justification. The explanation of the reason is based on the comparative analysis of nation’s mental peculiarities, which lived in different parts of the Roman Empire: in Eastern and Western. The work presents the materials that testify the presence of world acceptance of mental peculiarities of the mentioned nations: household activity, religion and policy. The author’s special attention was paid to religious concepts, namely on the differences in deity’s emotional state acceptance, in particular on the evil’s understanding. The article illustrates that the Gods of the ''western'' pantheon were provided by quite humanlike emotions, while the Gods of the ''eastern ''pantheon absolutized the good or the evil, it was their substantional sign. According to the investigation it was extinguished that the differences in Augustine’s and Pelagius’ God justification explanation were formed owing to different world perception based on the foundation of religious, economical and political substratum principles of the east and the west of the Roman Empire.
