EMG PATTERNS OF FOOTBALL PLAYERS DURING KICKING THE BALL LEFT OR RIGHT LOWER LIMB

Journal Title: Medycyna Sportowa - Year 2014, Vol 30, Issue 4

Abstract

Background. [sub][/sub]The aim of this study was to assess the movement patterns of the football player’s lower limbs, in terms of symmetry and asymmetry using telemetry EMG recording. Studies of this type are also used in the prevention and improving recovery from injuries.Material and methods. We studied 6 players in the senior age category of internship training from 5 to 12 years. In the study, was performed the analysis of the EMG signal of the following muscles: musculus quadriceps femoris, rectus femoris musculus, musculus biceps femoris of dominant and nondominant leg during kicking the ball inside part of the foot. It was assumed that the higher bioelectric muscle activation will be characterized by nondominant limb. In the studies was used telemetry electromiograph BTS FreeEMG. The system record EMG signal amplitude and duration of the flexor and extensor activation.Results. The study showed significant differences in the EMG signal nondominant limb, of the femoral biceps, which generate higher bioelectric activity, greater than 1.2 mV. In relation to the rectus femoris were no significant differences, with an average level of 1.0 mV EMG.Conclusions: The greatest concentration and saturation of the EMG signal was observed in the phase of peak muscle activity, that is, when the leg swing and kicks the ball. In all subjects the timing of muscle activation was similar sequence of actions. Evaluation duration of approx. 450 ms swing phase and 300 to 380 ms phase of kicking the ball, whole motor pattern is important in the practice of training players. Learning through studies electromiograph movement patterns, you can understand the physiology of the athlete motion in their sport.
