Epidemiological study of the relationship between C-reactive protein and diabetes in Japanese females
Journal Title: Journal of Analytical Bio-Science - Year 2012, Vol 35, Issue 5
Abstract
Recent evidence suggests that a small percentage of chronic inflammations are associated with the onset of diabetes. Based on this association, C-reactive protein (CRP), an inflammatory marker, has been garnering attention as a new risk factor for diabetes. However, according to reports from a large-scale epidemiological study conducted in the US and Europe, no conclusive evidence was found linking CRP levels and diabetes. Therefore, we conducted an epidemiological study of Japanese females from Habikino City during routine medical examinations and found through cross-sectional and longitudinal analysis that CRP levels and diabetes are indeed linked in these women.

Turbidimetric measurement of γ-globulin in cerebrospinal fluid with use of sulfosalicylic acid and Triton X-100
We describe a simple, rapid, and cost-effective method using sulfosalicylic acid and Triton X-100 for turbidimetric measurement ofγ-globulin in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Measurement ofγ-globulin in CSF is an indicator o...
The circadian rhythm of glycosylated compounds: HOMA-R and HOMA-β
Although there is some difference among an individuals, it is well known that circadian changes are present in nearly all life throughout our bodies. It is important to understand interindividual variations in order to d...

Lifestyle-related diseases, including dyslipidaemia, hypertension, hyperinsulinaemia, and obesity, are recognized as major risk factors for cardiovascular disease in adults. There is convincing evidence that lifestyle-re...
Comparison of isoflavone contents in soybean and soybean products by HPLC
We investigated the differences in the content of aglycones and glucosides in commercial soybean food products. Furthermore, we examined the content of aglycones and glucosides to determine whether changes depended on co...
A study on simultaneous measurement method for both platelets and fragmented red cells using flow-cytometric immunoplatelet count
Simultaneous measurement of both platelets and fragmented red cells (FRCs) using the flow-cytometric immunoplatelet (CD41/CD61) count was attempted. FRCs were prepared artificially by heating. The ICSH/ISLH immunoplatele...
