Errors at the transformation levels of the Turkish-Ukrainian translation while working with machine translation systems

Abstract

The article deals with errors at the transformation levels of the Turkish-Ukrainian translation while working with machine translation systems. It also describes the level character of the Turkish language which affects the transformational levels of translation. The article defines typical translation errors while working with Google Translate, Windows Live Translator Bing and Pragma 6. The level organization of the language became popular in the XX century. The main idea of this theory is that the higher language units are based on the lower level. The system of principles for the differentiation of language levels: 1) each level must have its own unit; units of the same level should be homogeneous; 2) units of any level are allocated by the segmentation of more complex formations; 3) units of the lower level are included in the higher level units, that is the hierarchical relations between them. The systems of machine translation are not able to achieve semantic-syntactic adequacy of the translation. According to the results, we can provide the following conclusion: the machine translation program Google Translate works on the same principle of translation into Turkish as Pragma 6x. However, the Google Translate program has the ability to work with large amounts of information (although, it is not recommended for better translation quality) while Pragma 6x works only with one sentence. Google Translate is more likely to pick up the right lexical and phraseological equivalents. Windows Live Translator Bing seemed to be a program that adequately translates, but during the study it was discovered that it simply does not indentify certain words. This can be explained by the lack of a powerful database.
