Abstract
Purpose. To study the influence of solid waste landfills on the environment by the atmospheric air factor, to assess the degree of environmental hazard generated as a result of organic waste storage. Assessment of the degree of environmental hazard from the storage of organic waste is the basis for the meaning of management decisions to reduce it. Methodology. The methodology used to determine the level of ecological hazard generated by the storage of organic waste by the atmospheric air factor based on the Landfill Gas Emissions Model (biogas emission model), the OND-86 methodology (the procedure for calculating the concentrations in the air of harmful substances contained at the enter-prises emissions) and state sanitary rules (Ukraine) 201-97. Results. It has been determined that the permissible level of environmental safety is exceeded in landfills with higher emissions of 173.4 tons per year. The ratio of maximum sur-face concentrations to the maximum allowable concentration at the boundary and beyond the sanitary protection zone occurs at landfills with an annual productivity of 12725 tons per year. For polygons with greater productivity, it is nec-essary to introduce technologies for the processing of organic waste to reduce the emission of pollutants into the atmos-phere. The largest surface concentrations are forms a group of summation no. 4 (Ammonia, Hydrogen sulfide [H2S], Formaldehyde) at the border and further the sanitary protection zone. Gross emissions for the entire storage period (10 years) have a linear dependence on the amount of annual storage. The largest part in the gross emissions is methane. A methodology for calculating the level of ecological hazard, which is formed as a result of waste compaction by the factor of atmospheric air, is developed. Originality. The conducted assessment of the environmental hazard by the factor of atmospheric air allows us to assess the compliance of environmental and sanitary-epidemiological require-ments of waste landfills. Practical value. The resulting dependencies can be used to predict the level of environmental hazard of the operation of landfill waste. References 12, tables 2, figures 2.
