Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the evolution of categories and the theory of competition in the history of economic thought of the XVIII – XXI centuries. Studies of economists about the evolution of competitive relations development are systematized. Described the main stages of competition development. Identified the main forms of implementation of competitive relations in each of the stages.
