EVOLUTION OF THE EUROPEAN HUMAN RIGHTS SYSTEM

Abstract
The article is devoted to the evolution of the European human rights system from the inception of the idea up to the present role of the European human rights protection mechanism as a quasi-constitutional court for Europe in the field of human rights. The author focuses on the historical milestones of the work of the European Court of Human Rights, the preconditions for radical changes to the Convention and modern challenges.
