EXAMINATION ON VIOLA METHODS EMPLOYED IN MUSICAL DEPARTMENTS IN FACULTIES OF FINE ARTS

Abstract
In the study it is aimed to determine the most frequently used viola methods in musical departments in Faculties of Fine Arts and to examine such methods in terms of left hand and right hand techniques. In the study data were obtained through literature search, applying interview questions prepared by researchers to viola lecturers giving lectures in concerned departments in the educational year of 2008- 2009, and analyzing said methods in terms of left hand and right hand techniques. It is found out that the v iola methods m ost f requently u sed a t m usical d epartments i n F aculties o f F ine A rts a re R . Kreutzer, P. Rode, and J. Don’t methods; t hat R. Kreutzer’s method is t he one which contains most trills as left hand technique and most legato string technique as right hand technique, P. Rode’s method contains mostly trills as left hand technique and most accent use as right hand technique, and J. Dont's method contains most accord use as left hand technique and most nuance drills as right hand technique.
