Experimental analysis of stiffness of pre-tensioned concrete bridge beams
Journal Title: Roads and Bridges - Drogi i Mosty - Year 2009, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
Experimental analysis of stiffness of the pre-tensioned concrete bridge beams is a main object of the paper. The tests have been performed in two stages. In the first stage, on the test bed the concrete pre-tensioned beams have been tested up to cracking moment, and in the second stage - composite girders, with the same beams and reinforced concrete on the top, have been tested up to failure. It has been taken into account the real property of concrete in pre-tensioned beams and in placed in situ reinforced concrete. In the analysis the load - deflection curves, load - curvature relation and the reduced modulus of elasticity have been used. As a result of comparative analysis it has been established, that the reduced modulus of elasticity is a good tool for assessment of moment of decompression and prediction cracks in prestressed concrete beam before conformation of cracks, as well as evaluation of degree of plasticity of materials in tested girders in the state just before failure. We may also use the reduced modulus of elasticity for the assessment of prestressing force in prestressed concrete beams.
