Extracurricular activities on mathematics in the 50th of the 20th century as a form of improving quality of education

Abstract
The article is devoted to problems of extracurricular activities on mathematics in the 50s of the 20th century as a form of improving the quality of education. The article analyzes the articles on the extracurricular work in mathematics of the scientific theoretical and methodological journal for teachers "Mathematics in the school" for 1950 - 1960. The features of the concept of extracurricular work in mathematics, which was presented in the articles of this period, are considered. The goals of extracurricular activity on mathematics in the middle of the twentieth century, the influence of Soviet ideology on them have been analyzed. The main types, forms and methods of conducting extra-class work on mathematics in the 50s of the twentieth century are singled out.
