Failure Mechanism of Joints Between New Type Concrete-filled Steel Tubular with Special-shaped Columns and Steel Beams

Journal Title: 河南科技大学学报(自然科学版) - Year 2016, Vol 37, Issue 1

Abstract

According to the experimental research of the concrete-filled steel tubular special-shaped joints with interior diaphragm, the failure process and the load-steel web strain hysteretic curves were analyzed, and the failure modes of joints were obtained. The comparative analysis shows that the damage type of the panel zone is affected by the axial compression ratio, the ratio of the height to thickness of section of column and flange-pier wall of the joints. Based on the analysis of the failure modes of the joints and the influence factors, the failure mechanism was established. Restraint length provided by steel tube for concrete in flange-pier wall and webpier wall of joint was proposed based on the conditions of deformation coordination of the joints and the principle of virtual work.
