Family values analysis of first-year students

Abstract

The problem of family values essence among the modern students is analyzed in this article. The relevance of the article is defined by the fact that there is a problem of readiness of youth to found a family and views on family values. The root cause of the problem is the crisis in the spiritual and moral spheres of modern Ukrainian youth. The problem was researched such scientists as O. Balagura, U. Beskurnikova, O. Gazhenko, O. ZotovaSadilo, O. Kolesnik, O. Leyfi, I. Sikorskaya, etc. The special attention is paid to the analysis of normative documents of national and international importance in which these norms such as family, marriage, childhood, motherhood and paternity are reflected. There dynamic factors of the social environment that influence on the formation of values including family are pointed. The age-related challenges of youth requiring special attention from society and from family are briefly-stressed. It is the family that has a major role in formation of spiritual and moral values of personality. The research is based on carrying out first year students’ survey of the speciality “Social Work (Social Pedagogic)”, the Faculty of Social Pedagogy and Psychology, Zaporizhzhia National University, aged from 17 to 19. The questionnaire “Family values – vital reference points” has be en developed for the definition of family valuable orientations for students. There were 18 students who participated in this questioning. According to the survey it has been defined that among family values the most significant for respondents were cordial relations between family members, collaborative leisure, wellbeing, family traditions and knowledge of family history. The need to be aware, development and pedagogical formation of family values of first-year students and their personal motivation to healthy family behavior are proved.
