FEATURES OF CONTROLLED START OF SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR AS PART OF GROUP ELECTRIC DRIVE

Abstract

Modern mining and metallurgical complexes are equipped with a group of identical technological units with a powerful synchronous electric drive. The starting of group synchronous electric drives, which are connected by an electric grid with commensurate power, has additional features. To facilitate the starting of powerful synchronous motors in a group electric drive, overexcitation of previously started synchronous motors is used to increase the voltage level in the electrical grid. Purpose. The determination of the optimum level of overexcitation of previously started synchronous motors. Methodology. To research the group synchronous electric drive, mathematical modeling of the group synchronous electric drive is used on the basis of the Park–Gorev equations. To assess the process of controlled starting of syn-chronous motors, it is suggested to use the efficiency indicator of the starting process. Results. To determine the total phase current of the group synchronous electric drive, the currents of synchronous motors in the orthogonal coordinate system d, q, 0 were converted to phase coordinates. The model of a group synchronous electric drive is supplemented with a subsystem for determining the total phase current and the voltage drop in the power line. Dependencies of wear of electromechanical equipment, its power consumption and the efficiency index of the start-up process on the control effect are obtained. Originality. On the basis of the application of the starting process efficiency index, the task of determining the optimum level of overexcitation of an operating synchronous motors for controlling the starting of subsequent motors in a group electric drive is solved. For the first time it was established that the efficiency index of the starting process of the synchronous motor in the group electric drive is extreme. Practical value. The application of the proposed method for optimizing the start-up of synchronous motors in a group electric drive will improve the technical and economic indicators of mining and metallurgical complexes in the industry of Ukraine.
