Finite Elements Simulations of Noise Damping in a Muffler
Journal Title: Romanian Journal of Acoustics and Vibration - Year 2009, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
This study represents an investigation of the COMSOL Finite Elements (FE) capabilities of simulating noise reduction techniques. This general purpose FE code has an acoustics module, from which the present study investigates one type of muffler used in the automotive industry. A comparison is made between a reference design model and an improved model with a number of holes in the two ducts of the muffler. The results indicate that such a design tool can be successfully used in other applications concerning noise reduction such as exhaust nozzles.

On Nonlinear Dynamics of Dragline Bucket Subjected to Flexible Linkages
In this paper, the oscillatory motion of the dragline loaded bucket it was highlighted. Hence, the authors proposed a new computational model useful for study of the nonlinear dynamics of the bucket. The linkage of the b...
Behavior of the Voigt-Kelvin Viscous-elastic Linear Materials to Stationary Dynamic Actions with Control in the Inertial Rotational Force
The dynamic response and the dissipated energy of the Voigt-Kelvin antivibration linear modular materials are presented. Thus, for the perturbing inertial rotational force the cases of systems without mass or with an add...
Systemic Parametrical Analysis of the Innovative Isolation Solutions against Seismic Shocks
This paper deals with new vibration isolation systems intended for vibrations characterized by low tuning eigen frequency. The damping as well as the elastic characteristics are presented both for the whole system and it...

Experimental Analysis on the Influence of Supports in Performing Pipes Inspection Using Longitudinal Guided Waves
In the last decades, have been investigated guided waves in pipes, due mainly to their capacity of traveling long distances without substantial attenuation. The long range propagation is however limited, among other caus...
