Flexible Employment and Personnel Risk

Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Management - Year 2010, Vol 9, Issue 3

Abstract

The article presents personnel risk in the context of flexible forms of employment. There are two types of personnel risk, that is, employer risk and employee risk. Both risks depend on the use of an employment form. It seems that the employee risk is larger than the employer one. The examples of employee risks are: the risk of employment safety, risk of maintenance lowering, risk connected with employee’s time management, risk of alienation, risk of work-life unbalance and risk of professional career set-back. The employer risk is mostly connected with personnel functions and includes for example: the risk of labour supply and labour demand divergences, risk of unjustified labour costs increases, risk of improper candidate choice, risk of incorrect realization of the job tasks, risk of lowering payment, risk of formal evaluation absence, risk of competence gap, risk of knowledge loses. There are interactions between personnel risk and flexible forms of employment. The increase in personnel risk causes the development of flexible employment forms. And on the contrary, flexible employment forms lead to changes in the area of the personnel risk.
