FORMATION OF FUTURE ECONOMISTS’ LEGAL COMPETENCE

Abstract
Scientific approaches to understanding the competence of experts, including experts and economists are analyzed in the article; the structure of professional competence and the place of legal knowledge and skills in it is determined. Expediency of the use of the competence approach to the professional training targeted to economists is substantiated. The competence approach in the modern paradigm of education is considered as one of the areas of modernization of education because it allows you to eliminate the distance between cognitive, activity, and personal levels of personality development. The competence approach presupposes the necessity to prepare competent specialists in economics who could successfully carry out their professional activity and perform other functions which cover certain requirements to the existing standards in the professional field or activity. The approaches to the interpretation of the concepts of «competence» and «competency» as well as to the charateristics of the level of their formation and criteria in psychological and pedagogical literature are considered. Competency is understood as a real requirement for students’ mastering a body of knowledge, ways of life, experiences, attitudes to a particular field of knowledge, personality traits acting in society; whereas competence is student’s personal qualities and activity experience which were genuinely formed. Theoretical grounds of the concept «formation of professional competence» have been represented. The component structure of the professional competence of experts in the field of economy has been specified. The author reveals the concept and characterizes the components of the economists’ legal competence, its importance for the professional competence of the representatives of this profession. Three formation levels of the of legal competence are described: first level - the formation of key legal competencies; the second level - the formation of basic legal competencies; the third level - the formation of specific legal competencies, which takes place in the process of person’s self-study and professional advancement. The author notes that successful formation of legal competence directly effects the formation of the future professional’s world, its value orientation. The legal competence of an economist gives clear and immutable criteria of the norms how juridically right it is to to carry out their professional activities; only a specialist who has the legal competence is able to create an environment according to the norms of morality and civilized level of society’s economic development. The main directions of the legal competence formation in the educational process of a higher educational institution as well as the contents of legal knowledge future economists should possess are defined in the article.
